SANURA Inaugurates a Solar-Powered Borehole in Dimori (Bassar)
The month of Ramadan 2026 allowed SANURA to mobilize considerable humanitarian aid: food distributions, hot Iftar meals, Zakat al-Fitr, and Eid celebrations for children. But these actions, though essential, have led some to believe that SANURA is active only during religious periods or within a strictly faith-based framework. Since its founding, SANURA has fought for human dignity through sustainable, lasting, and structural actions. The association does not simply respond to emergencies; it anticipates needs and builds solutions that endure beyond the calendar of religious events. Today, April 12, 2026, SANURA proves this once again with the inauguration of a solar-powered borehole in the locality of Dimori (Bassar), in northern Togo.

A Borehole Entirely Powered by Solar Energy
Thanks to the generous funding of Human Development Fund (HDF) , SANURA has completed a vital infrastructure project:
- A borehole (deep well) reaching clean water
- A solar plaque (photovoltaic panels) powering the water pump
- A water distribution point accessible to the entire community
For years, the inhabitants of Dimori, particularly women and children, have faced a daily ordeal: walking long distances to fetch water from unsafe sources, exposed to waterborne diseases and loss of productive time. The new solar-powered borehole provides clean, accessible, and free water throughout the day, without electricity costs and without carbon emissions. By choosing solar energy, SANURA affirms its commitment to two essential battles:
- Access to clean water; a fundamental human right
- Renewable energy; a necessity for a sustainable future

This project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- SDG 6 – Clean water and sanitation
- SDG 7 – Affordable and clean energy
- SDG 13 – Climate action
SANURA does not merely distribute aid; it builds infrastructure that respects both people and the planet.
Project Location: Dimori, Bassar (Togo)
The locality of Dimori is situated in the Bassar prefecture, a rural area where access to drinking water remains limited. The inauguration ceremony brought together local authorities, community leaders, SANURA representatives, and the grateful population of Dimori.
« We have waited for this for years. Today, our children will no longer drink dirty water. Thank you to SANURA and HDF for thinking of us beyond Ramadan. » A village elder from Dimori.
Clean water. Solar energy. Human dignity. This is SANURA. Today, tomorrow, and beyond.
