Wheelchair Donation Drive Brings Hope to Families in Sokodé
In July 2025, the SANURA Association launched a series of wheelchair donations at the Centre National d’Appareillage Orthopédique (CNAO) in Lomé. One month later, from August 11 to 13, the initiative moved north to the Centre Régional d’Appareillage Orthopédique (CRAO) in Sokodé, with the generous support of Helping Hand Relief and Development.

This new phase brought together beneficiaries from the Kara region and Sokodé, many of whom had been waiting for years without the means to access a wheelchair. For them, this was not just medical assistance, but the gift of independence and dignity.
Among the stories that touched hearts was that of a 20-year-old young man who, until now, had never had the chance to own a wheelchair. His family’s financial struggles made it impossible. His mother, who has carried him for years despite suffering from constant back pain, could not hide her emotions as she received the wheelchair on his behalf:

“Only God can reward the donors. With this wheelchair, at least I can start a small business while my son finally gains the chance to move around on his own.” said the mom. Her words reflect the deep sense of relief and hope that these donations bring not just to individuals, but to entire families.
For SANURA and its partners, this is more than a distribution of equipment. It is a step toward inclusion, empowerment, and a reminder that even small gestures of solidarity can transform lives.
